City of Cards
This thesis year at the Center for Cartoon Studies I decided to begin a long-form supernatural science fiction story I’d been wanting to start for many years. City of Cards is the story of a future Corporatocracy and the people that live in it. The bulk of the story centers around Ace and Plato, their relationship, and how over time they are confronted with the knowledge that they are not in control of their own lives. Influenced heavily by Plato’s Allegory of the Cave, this story is about seeking out truths, and all the different ways that can be interpreted. I have completed the first chapter during my time here with the second chapter ready for digital inks and tones. My main goal has been to prepare myself to continue working on this story for many years to come after I graduate.
